چکیده
The Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory’s Synthesis Telescope provides the highest resolution data (1 arcmin and 0.82 km s) to date of an H I worm candidate. Observed as part of the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey, mushroom-shaped GW 123.4-1.5 extends only a few hundred parsecs, contains ∼ 10 M⊙ of neutral hydrogen, and appears unrelated to a conventional shell or chimney structure. Our preliminary Zeus-2d models use a single off-plane explosion with a modest (∼ 10 ergs) energy input. These generic simulations generate, interior to an expanding outer blast wave, a buoyant cloud whose structure resembles the morphology of the observed feature. Unlike typical model superbubbles, the stem can be narrow because its width is not governed by the pressure behind the blast wave nor the disk scale height. Using this type of approach it should be possible to more accurately model the thin stem and other details of GW 123.4-1.5 in the future. We report measurements of the light curve of the variable Galactic Center source IRS16SW. The light curve is not consistent with an eclipsing binary or any other obvious variable star. The source may be an example of a high mass variable predicted theoretically but not observed previously.

We present a possible Cepheid-like luminosity estimator for the longduration gamma-ray bursts based on the variability of their light curves. We also present a preliminary application of this luminosity estimator to 907 long-duration bursts from the BATSE catalog.

The Galactic Bulge region is a rich host of variable high-energy point sources. These sources include bright and relatively faint X-ray transients, X-ray bursters, persistent neutron star and black-hole candidate binaries, X-ray pulsars, etc.. We have a program to monitor the Galactic Bulge region regularly and frequently with the γ-ray observatory INTEGRAL. As a service to the scientific commu...
